A Positive Place on the Internet

First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rocky Mount NC is a member congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

We don't have a church building...

we meet in person for worship at least once a month, promote online content, offer local service projects, and get together often in Rocky Mount and elsewhere for activities, community outreach and fun.

Our schedule is posted monthly here and on our social media.

About Us

To Love & Be Loved

The mission:

About Us
Our congregation constructed its first church building in Rocky Mount NC at the corner of Nash and Franklin streets in 1909, expanded it in 1923, and again in 1940 to include more classrooms and fellowship space.

In 1950, funds were raised to purchase 2.5 acres between Pine Crest Road and Alta Vista Lane, with an impressive full frontage on West Haven Blvd. The existing building was completed and the first service held on September 8, 1957.

In April 1972 a large fellowship hall with a modern kitchen was added at the opposite end to support the growing ministry and many service projects the congregation offered to our community.
In the spring of 2020, because of Covid restrictions and the decline of our membership we began planning what our church would look like without the obligations of supporting a large physical building.  Since then we've begun offering virtual opportunities for worship and study, while maintaining a local ministry of in-person meetings, service projects, meals and Bible Study.

Activities We've Supported
For many years the CMF (Christian Men’s Fellowship) group organized and participated in the annual  “Yam Jam” to harvest sweet potatoes and donate them to the Raleigh food bank. A collaboration among many churches and community organizations in eastern North Carolina, the final gleaning in 2018 produced a semi-truckload of sweet potatoes.

Our church continues to contribute significant labor and funds to support the United Community Ministries, Camp Caroline, the Tar River United Way, and Christmount Christian Assembly in Black Mountain NC.

We collect four dedicated offerings annually to support the Week of Compassion, Easter, Pentecost, and Christmas offerings of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and we contribute a percent of our general offering to Christian Outreach/Missionaries.

About The Christian Church

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada grew out of two movements seeking Christian unity that sprang up almost simultaneously in western Pennsylvania and Kentucky – movements that were backlashes against the rigid denominationalism of the early 1800s.

The Christian Church in North Carolina

We are in partnership with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in North Carolina, sharing resources, information and practical ministry in a variety of ways.

It's all about protein, fat and flavor. Nature did its part. We just found a way to turn it into a delectable cheese.
